Fayre
Our family have been farmers in Frocester since 1895. We have obviously seen many changes since then, but we are now a mixed farm with beef, pigs and arable.
Eric Hawkins runs the pig unit while his brother John runs the rest of the farm, ably assisted by his daughter Nicks and her husband Will.
In 1992, John started a sports ground maintenance business, which is managed by another
son-in-law, Dave. There are eight grandchildren eagerly waiting in the wings!
All the pigs are reared at Bridge Farm and we have achieved the Farm Assurance Certificate for excellent animal husbandry. The Cotswold breed are all home bred and housed in deep straw yards. They are fed on quality feed free from antibiotics and growth promoters - with the occasional ice cream for dessert!
The main beef breeds are Aberdeen Angus and Welsh Black and are reared at Church Farm, either outside at grass or in deep straw yards. All are home-bred and fed on a quality diet which includes barley and wheat grown on the farm and free from antibiotics and growth promoters.
Any lamb we sell are locally sourced, reared and fattened on grass.
Frocester Fayre and the Farmers' Markets have been a successful new venture, one which we have expanded by converting the dairy into a cutting room, preparation area and kitchen, where we butcher, prepare and expand our range of ready-to-eat meals.
We have secured the services of Terry Durkin, a butcher of 30 years experience, and with his help we are sure that we will be able to supply all our customers with the quality and service that they expect.
We are a genuine family business and we aim to give our customers excellent quality food at affordable prices.
